Holiday peace for you and your dog

Well, it’s really been a year, hasn’t it? You’re stuck at home with a dog who has grown increasingly fearful or reactive as the lockdown stretches on.  Being a problem-solver, you tried to find quieter places to walk, but everyone and their grandma is out walking dogs at all hours of the day.  As if that weren’t enough, you’re up at night worrying about paying bills, elderly parents who refuse to stay home, a vulnerable loved one across the country.  With all of this going on, finding some holiday peace for yourself and your dog is more important than ever.

Because this year has been so…special, our team wanted to make something lighthearted for you this week. Something to make you smile. So this week, skip the stressful walks, and put your dog training on the back burner. Instead, entertain your dog at home with some holiday-themed games.  And then maybe, if the weather is nice enough, go enjoy a walk by yourself, just for you.

Our wonderful trainer (and social media director!) Rachelle came up with the idea for this week’s video, and that’s her adorable pup Billie showing us the latest in canine strategies of gingerbread house deconstruction. We’d love to see your results if you try this at home!  If you’re lazy like me, you could substitute some stacked gift boxes for the gingerbread.

If you’re feeling stressed or lonely this holiday season, drop by our Facebook support group.  You’ll find a warm and welcoming community there ready to support you.

If you do happen to be having family over to visit this holiday, please check out our earlier blog on avoiding holiday problems with a fearful dog.  Stay safe this holiday season!
